Copyright & DMCA Policy

Last updated

PasteAnyLink respects intellectual property rights and responds to properly submitted notices. This page explains how to submit one and what happens next.

Important context before you file

PasteAnyLink does not host, store or index any media content. It is a technical utility that, at a user's request, retrieves a publicly accessible file from a third-party platform and passes it to that user's device. We hold no copy of any work, we maintain no library, and we have no catalogue that could be searched or removed.

Because of this, there is usually nothing on our systems to take down. Where content is available in a way you believe infringes your rights, that content resides on the originating platform, and a notice to that platform will be considerably more effective than one to us.

That said, we take notices seriously and will act on them. Where a specific work or source is identified, we can and do block it from being processed by the Service.

What we can do in response to a valid notice

Block a specific URL or content identifier so that the Service refuses to process it.

Block an entire domain or source from being processed.

Disable specific functionality where it is being used disproportionately to infringe.

Restrict or terminate access for users who repeatedly misuse the Service.

How to submit a notice

Send your notice to hello@pasteanylink.com. To be actionable it must include all of the following:

1. A physical or electronic signature of the copyright owner, or of a person authorised to act on their behalf.

2. Identification of the copyrighted work claimed to have been infringed. If multiple works are covered by a single notice, a representative list.

3. Identification of the material claimed to be infringing, with enough specific detail for us to locate it — for a service like ours this means the exact source URL, not a general description.

4. Your contact details: name, postal address, telephone number and email address.

5. A statement that you have a good faith belief that the use complained of is not authorised by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.

6. A statement that the information in the notice is accurate, and, under penalty of perjury, that you are the copyright owner or authorised to act on their behalf.

Notices that we cannot action

Notices that do not identify a specific work and a specific URL cannot be actioned, because there is nothing for us to locate or block. Requests to remove a whole category of content, to disable a platform entirely, or to take down material we have no connection to fall outside what this process can address.

We will respond to explain why, rather than ignoring the notice.

Misuse of this process

Under 17 U.S.C. § 512(f), any person who knowingly materially misrepresents that material is infringing may be liable for damages, including costs and legal fees. Similar provisions exist in other jurisdictions.

Please consider whether the use you are reporting might be permitted — for example as fair use, fair dealing, or under a private copying exception — before filing. We may seek legal advice before acting on notices that appear to be aimed at suppressing lawful use.

Counter-notice

If you believe material was blocked as a result of mistake or misidentification, you may submit a counter-notice to hello@pasteanylink.com containing: your signature; identification of the material and its prior location; a statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good faith belief the material was removed as a result of mistake or misidentification; and your name, address and telephone number, together with a statement consenting to the jurisdiction of an appropriate court and accepting service of process from the complainant.

We may restore blocked material if we do not receive notice that the complainant has filed an action within the applicable statutory period.

Repeat infringers

We maintain a policy of restricting or terminating access, in appropriate circumstances, for users who are repeat infringers. Because the Service does not use accounts, this is enforced at a technical level.

Designated agent

Notices should be sent to hello@pasteanylink.com. Our designated agent details as registered with the United States Copyright Office are available on request and through the Copyright Office's public directory.

Email is the only route we monitor for copyright notices. A postal address can be provided on request to a rights holder who requires one.

Response time

We aim to acknowledge every notice within two business days and to action valid notices promptly thereafter. If a notice is incomplete we will say what is missing rather than simply rejecting it.

This page describes how the Service operates and is provided for information. It is not legal advice. If you need advice about your own situation, consult a qualified lawyer in your jurisdiction.
