What is a Pinterest downloader?

A Pinterest downloader retrieves the media file behind a pin URL. Pinterest stores every image in several sizes and serves a downscaled copy to the page, so saving directly from the browser usually produces a smaller file. A downloader fetches the originals rendition, which is the full resolution the pinner uploaded.

  • Pinterest serves images at 236px, 474px, 736px and an originals size.
  • Right-clicking and saving typically grabs the 736px version, not the original.
  • Video pins are served as MP4 at up to 1080p.
  • Idea pins contain multiple pages, each with its own image or video.
  • Short pin.it links redirect to the full pinterest.com pin URL.

Pinterest tools

Pinterest is built around images, but it does not give you a download button, and saving from the browser hands you a shrunken copy rather than the file that was actually uploaded. These tools fetch the original-resolution version of any public pin, along with video pins, idea pins and GIFs. Short pin.it links and all the country domains work the same way.

About Pinterest media

Pinterest generates several renditions of every image the moment it is pinned. The grid on a board shows small thumbnails, the closeup view shows a mid-size copy, and a full-resolution file sits behind all of them. These are exposed in the image URL itself as size segments — 236x, 474x, 736x and originals — which is why the same picture can appear at four different addresses.

The practical consequence is that right-clicking a pin and choosing "save image" gives you whatever the browser happened to load, which is almost always the 736-pixel version. For viewing that is fine. For printing, for a design reference, or for anything where detail matters, it is a significant downgrade from what the pinner uploaded.

Video pins work differently again. Pinterest hosts them as MP4 at up to 1080p, and there is no save option anywhere in the interface. Idea pins are a multi-page format, closer to a story than a single pin, and each page holds its own image or video clip that has to be fetched separately.

One Pinterest-specific wrinkle worth knowing: the platform runs dozens of country domains — pinterest.co.uk, pinterest.de, pinterest.com.au and many more — and a pin shared from one country often carries that domain. They all point at the same content, so any of them can be pasted here. The pin.it short links used by the mobile app resolve too.

Pinterest downloader FAQ

Why is the image I save from Pinterest smaller than the original?

Because your browser saves the version it displayed, which is usually the 736-pixel rendition. Pinterest keeps a larger originals file at a different address, and that is the one this tool fetches.

What resolution will I actually get?

Whatever the pinner uploaded. Pinterest does not upscale, so if the original was 600 pixels wide that is the maximum available. We show the real dimensions before you download rather than promising HD we cannot deliver.

Do pin.it links work?

Yes. Short pin.it links from the mobile share sheet are resolved to the full pin URL automatically.

Can I download from pinterest.co.uk or other country domains?

Yes. Pinterest runs dozens of country domains and they all serve the same pins. Any of them can be pasted here.

Can I download an entire board at once?

No. Individual pins and idea pins are supported, but bulk board downloading is deliberately out of scope — copying someone's whole collection in one action is a different thing from saving a pin.

Are secret boards supported?

No. Secret boards are visible only to the people they are shared with, which requires a logged-in session. We handle public pins only.

Can I use Pinterest images commercially?

Usually not without permission. Most pins are someone else's photography or artwork, often repinned many times from an original source. For commercial work you need a licence from the rights holder, not a download.

Do you store the images?

No. Files stream directly from Pinterest to your device, and we keep no record of the pins you submit.
