About Snapchat media
Spotlight launched as Snapchat's answer to TikTok: a public, algorithmically ranked feed of short videos that anyone can browse at snapchat.com without signing in. Because it is genuinely public, Spotlight content is served as ordinary MP4 files from a content delivery network, with no authentication and no encryption on the media itself.
Public profiles work similarly. Creators and brands can make a profile public, and the Stories posted to it are viewable in a browser by anyone. These are the two surfaces this tool covers.
Everything else on Snapchat is a different matter entirely. Personal snaps sent between friends, private stories, and Memories are all tied to an authenticated session and are built around the expectation that they disappear. That expectation is the entire product. A tool claiming to retrieve them would need either someone's credentials or a security flaw, and sites advertising "private Snapchat viewers" are uniformly one of two things: outright scams, or credential harvesters that take your login and use it.
One behavioural difference worth knowing: Snapchat notifies the sender when you screenshot a personal snap. That notification system does not apply to Spotlight, which is a public feed where saving and resharing is expected. Saving a Spotlight video through any route generates no notification to anyone.

Can I download someone's private Snapchat story?
No. Private stories require an authenticated session belonging to someone the story was shared with. Any site claiming otherwise is either a scam or trying to harvest your login.
Will the person be notified?
Not for Spotlight. Snapchat's screenshot notification applies to personal snaps, not to the public Spotlight feed where saving and resharing is expected.
Do I need a Snapchat account?
No. Spotlight is viewable in any browser without signing in, which is exactly why it can be downloaded without credentials.
What about Snapchat Memories?
Memories are your own saved content inside your account, and reaching them requires being logged in as you. Export them through Snapchat's own account data download instead.
Why do some Spotlight links not work?
Spotlight videos can be removed by the creator or by moderation, and some are region-limited. If it does not load for you in a logged-out browser, it will not load here either.
What quality will I get?
Usually up to 1080p, set by what the creator uploaded. Snapchat compresses on upload, so the original recording quality is not preserved.
Can I repost a Spotlight video?
Only with permission. Spotlight content is public to view, which is not the same as being free to reuse — the creator retains their rights.
Do you store the videos?
